Arrived in San Diego

Tomorrow is the Imperial Beach Tri/Du. Lorelei and I checked in and got my packet, timing chip, etc. The beach was a nice 70-something. It was pretty breezy when we were there which wasn't expected. I hope the wind stays down a bit more tomorrow considering I've now got the disc wheel on the bike.

After packet pickup we stopped off at this little Mexican Resaurant on the way back to the freeway. I was starving after the 2.5 hour drive which meant we missed lunch and I was getting notably cranky. The only issue with eating lunch when we did (which was a necessity to pacify my crankiness) was that it was at 3. Too early for dinner but too late for lunch which means in about an hour I'll be hungry. I don't want to be hungry at 8:30 pm.

We're staying at the DoubleTree Mission Valley. I didn't know this hotel had 11 floors. We're on the 8th and I have to say, for nailing a pretty good price on Priceline.com I'm surprised. The rooms are nothing fancy. They have a good comfortable bed and what you would expect from a hotel. What I didn't expect was how quiet it is. You can't hear anything above or below us. Maybe that's because there isn't but the soundproofing seems really great! While this is clearly a business class hotel the amount of kids with their families was surprising to see. The only gripe I have so far is the wet marble floors on the ground floor by the elevators from the kids and their parents coming from the pool. It's a hazard.
