A nice break in the weather and a fun day!

Where to start? I guess the best place is at the beginning eh? =)

I rode GMR today. For those that don't know what GMR is, it stands for Glendora Mountain Road. It's a local mountain road that's great for cycling. From the bottom to the top it's roughly 8 miles with what I would guess to be an average of 6% grade. The elevation gain is 2559'. It's a butt kicker.

I haven't ridden GMR for quite a few months and Don finally was able to get out of the house for a bit to get some riding in. Without sounding gay, I really enjoy riding with Don. I don't know what it is, perhaps because we're very close in age and pretty close in height and weight that having someone to ride with that is similar to yourself makes you push harder and work more. I do know that he rides better than I do and I generally push myself harder on the bike when I'm riding with him. He's been out of the saddle for a few months with a newborn so naturally his riding has gone down a bit. I think I reached the top about 10 minutes before him. 49 minutes is a respectable time for me. I was dry heaving when I got off the bike so I know I rode it well. I expect Don to be back into shape to challenge me up GMR in no time. He's just not the type of guy that's going to let me put that type of time between us for very long.

This afternoon I decided to drive up to Santa Clarita (where my girlfriend lives) to watch the finish of Stage 6 of the AMGEN Tour of California. Boy was that something I'll never forget. I got so wrapped up in cheering on those pro cyclists from all over the world as they came through the 100 meter mark before the finish line. The sprint was unbelievable having seen it in person now. I tried taking video of the sprint finish on my cell phone but for some reason it never saved. I'm quite upset about that! I wanted to be able to post it here...oh well. =(

My GMR ride data is below. If you click on it, it will open in a new window. It's somewhat distorted but it can be figured out.

Love reading your updates, Scott. The readout from your bike computer is pretty neat too...I don't use the power meter (yet -don't know that I ever will), but how great to see exact details on the ride.
Keep on riding!

I'll try to remember to upload the ride data for my Saturday rides every week. If for no other reason than I don't have to page through my program to view them.
