This morning I went out to Bonelli Park to ride a bit and then go for a run. My sit bones were unhappy with me after yesterday's ride so I only did 1 - 7 mile lap on the bike. I got back to the car and put on running clothes. I also changed socks (which I would later determine to be a bad thing).
I went out for a run with water bottle in hand. I ran 4.5 miles. It was no blistering pace but I did average under 10 min/mile. I really wanted to get out and try the new shoes as well as get a feeling for how my breathing would adapt from the bike to the run. It took a little bit for my breathing to settle into a rhythm...probably about a mile.
Halfway through the run I felt a hot spot developing on my right foot on the inside edge of my arch. I got back to the car and saw I had a blister. After talking to Ing, we concluded that the likely culprit for the blister was the fact I was wearing cotton socks and they are too abrasive. Next time I will just stay in my cycling socks and things should be much better.
