Potpourri of holiday updates

As you know I made a ham for Christmas dinner. It took at least an hour longer than expected but turned out very yummy. I glazed the ham with 1 C. orange juice, 1/2 C very tightly packed brown sugar, and 1/2 C honey mixed all together. This ham is so much more delicious than the turkey I did for Thanksgiving.

Thursday felt like a lazy day. I had some Kohl's Cash I received earlier last week for doing some shopping there so I decided to head out with Ing to do a little shopping. I found a couple items I was in need of and also some clothing that was really deeply discounted. The check out line was just as long as it was last week but it was manageable.

After Kohl's Ing and I stopped for lunch which was very yummy (antipasto salad) then we headed to Top Speed Running. Running socks are anything but cheap! I picked up 3 different pairs so that I could try them all and maybe find ones that work better than others for the next time I need running socks. Then we made our way to the movie theater to go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. First and foremost I have to say that if you get wrapped up in movies like I do...bring tissues! We're not talking a little tear in the corner of your eye...it's more like the Mississippi River. It was a fantastic movie! I would say it's one of those "epic" films that comes along now and then like Saving Private Ryan or Titanic. I thoroughly enjoyed a movie that didn't feel like it was repeating a familiar plot line. So yes, this movie was worth the price of admission. At the very least, it is a MUST rent.

Today Mike and I went for one lap around Bonelli Park and a run. I could feel the 34 degree air biting my face all the way around the park. The legs never felt like they loosened up and while I could go for short bursts of hard effort, I just felt bleh trying to recover. It didn't help the rain this past week kept me off the bike either. Running felt good though. The transition from the bike to run was easy and the new pair of Bollego socks were amazing! You can really feel the absolute comfort as soon as you put them on. My feet stayed dry and I have no foot pain at all. Now that is a nice feeling to be pain free. The run was a hair under 3.5 miles.
