A very fun weekend!

Last weekend I went out to the Stagecoach Country Music Festival. It's been quite some time since I've been a fan of country music.

We really lucked out both days as far as seating went. It was an outdoor festival so everyone brought their own beach towels and camping chairs. We sat in the beer garden off to the side under a palm tree. It provided us great shade and plenty of people watching since there were some large gaps between some of the music sets. Weather wise we REALLY lucked out! This is Palm Springs area so it does get hot. The weekend prior my friend Christina went out to the Coachella Music Festival and they had 114 degree heat during our heatwave that weekend. I was comfortable with the 82 degrees it was on Saturday and even the warmer 89 on Sunday was bearable considering...

The concert was certainly full of people who drank too much but it's really interesting to see how country music has changed. No longer are people wearing tight jeans and cowboy buttondown shirts. Country seems to have gone to more normal mainstream street clothes and only the die hards continue to wear the traditional gettups. If this were Texas perhaps it would be different...who knows.

Most of the music was pretty good. I'm not much for the twangy sound of old country but I've found the rock sounding new stuff of the newer generation more appealing. Reba was one of the headliners Saturday evening and she certainly put on a show. We left halfway through her set because her music after awhile all begins to sound the same which gets a bit annoying.

Sunday was much the same except we left much earlier since Monday was a work day and we wanted to beat the crowds out of town and on the way home. I guess we left around 5 or so? Perhaps a bit later...

Monday rolled around. It was my birthday. I'm 31 and still thankfully feel in my mid-20s. I actually took 2 and a half hours off early and went out to ride. My old gym buddy and good friend at work got me a gift. I totally wasn't expecting anything let alone LIVESTRONG Oakley riding glasses. He bought me the Oakley Radar Path ones. I can't say thank you enough and how much I really enjoy riding with not only top quality glasses but also something that helps contribute to cancer research and Lance's efforts to raise money for cancer research. Thank you Gary!
