New event planned for next year

I stumbled upon a race in Northern Cal in May 2010. It's the Auburn Tri/Du. Apparently it's the world's toughest half, olympic, sprint, and duathlon course. That right there set the bar for me. Then I learned that the du course is a 3k run - 56 mile bike - 13.1 mile run and I was further challenged because not only is it a half marathon run distance on leg 3 but the bike course is also very hilly including gradual climbs, rollers, and what they call "LeMond walked" hill or something of the sort. Basically it's .4 mile at 12% incline. OUCH! If Greg LeMond walked it, then how many others end up doing the same???

Essentially, I'd be looking at at a minimum of 5 hours racing...3 hours on the bike and 2 hours doing the half marathon distance run. I better start looking at how to train for something like that and get a battle plan figured out and decide how far out I should start. Maybe there's a 18 week plan around somewhere... The good thing is I'm a year away to figure it out.

excellent! What a great goal to have...much like doing a 1/2 Ironman, minus the 1.2 mile swim!
