Duathlon postponed yet again!

Well today was supposed to be race day. For the second time since May, the event was postponed. The first time it was due to roadwork being done on the course. That's fine and I can understand it because the city needs to do what it needs to do. Then the event organizer lowered the registration fees after I had preregistered at a higher price as I'm sure many did as well. Again, I can understand when the organizer offered to offset the price difference with a lower price for one of the other events how logistically it was easier than issuing refunds for everyone. I can handle that since I was thinking about attending a second event of theirs.

Thursday came around and that evening I received an email stating there was a mix up in communication and some stuff wasn't completed between the organization and the city somewhere...somehow and the event will be pushed off to Sept. 20th now. We were offered the opportunity for a refund and I emailed the guy back and took it. I haven't received an email reply yet how the refund will work since it was done through a 3rd party event site. TISK TISK! With the soonest they'll be racing now is a month and a half away, don't try and tell me you are too busy to explain how my refund works. I opted for the refund because I saw the transfer of the higher registration cost being lost and forgotten. I'm also not confident that the organization has their ducks in a row yet as well as conflicting with races I have coming up.

I guess I now focus on the duathlon slated for the end of this month in San Diego.

I got everything put onto the new frame last week. After some confusion with front derrailleur clamp size I finally got everything squared away. The new bike rides very nice. Carbon fiber really has decent vibration dampening qualities. I still feel everything I would have before on the aluminum frame but it's not as sharp as it was before. This frame is also 3cm smaller and seems to fit quite a bit better than the 56cm frame I was on before. I don't feel so stretched out on it when I'm on the brake/shifter hoods. My legs have to get used to pedaling on the smaller frame but everything feels great. No back pains anymore on longer rides! The bike is certainly more responsive and I get put down power to the ground better it feels like. As far as aesthetics go, I love how the carbon fiber has been toned down and is very subtle. I've already had one guy look at the frame oddly as it disappears when the sun it on it one angle but is very apparent from another.

Today I went on a ride with Alex, preparing for Tucson in November. I'm looking forward to Tucson again...just not the last 20 miles in baron lunar landscape and cheese grater pavement. It's always my weakest area out there. No spectator support and nothing to take your mind off the rough road...not even anything worth looking at.

I think that's about it for now.
