Today was a good climbing training day. It's the last time I'll be on the bike until Phoenix next Saturday. Don, Mike, Alex, Bill (a new acquaintance) and I all rode Glendora Mountain Road today.
I felt good at the start of the climb and was able to get into a good smooth rhythm from the beginning. About 2 miles into the climb I started having some pretty bad cramps in my side in the rib area. I wanted to get off the bike so bad but just eased up a little and kept pedaling until it went away.
It was about 48 degrees but I was sweating like a pig riding up. I made it up in 45:47 which is my fastest ascent ever! I really was happy with my ride and it gave me confirmation that the various types of interval training I'm doing on the trainer 3-4 days a week is strengthening me considerably for the moment.
I'll probably get on the trainer on Tuesday for a quick and easy 15 minute spin session to open up the legs. I'm really looking forward to the Tour de Phoenix. I drive out Friday morning and it can't come fast enough.

Very exciting - I'll be anxious to hear about the Tour of Phoenix. You should add links to that list of events you have...mainly because I was too lazy to Google it! :-)
Noted and done. =)
