A new month and an improved ride

Don wasn't able to go hammer out a 40 mile ride down at the river trail today so Alex and I met up at Kenos. The temperature was nice. I am trying out a new saddle - the SMP Strike Evolution. The last saddle I had finally started getting loose on the rails so I had to replace it. I like the new saddle. I can honestly say for the first time in almost a year, I got off the bike and wasn't numbed out. Since the blood flow isn't being cut off anymore, that's got to help the blood circulation to my legs too. Not that I've noticed any issues with my legs, but I figured it would improve that too. I will say that the saddle isn't the best for aero positions...at least the way I have it adjusted at the moment. I'll have to point the nose down a bit further and see if that helps.

I led the ride the entire 40 miles and finished it in record time for me - 1 hour 55 minutes. It wasn't easy but I was able to stick with it mentally.

Earlier this week after the high of competing in the triathlon wore off I realized that I can't afford the time to train for them. I have enough time to get out on the bike and that's about it. So I'm staying with the bike. In fact, I do enjoy being on the bike so much that I will be starting to put together a TT bike. I don't believe in buying retail. I believe that if you have the time to do the research and have a desire to spend less why not?

I will be returning to Leader for the TT frame. I've settled on the 735TT. It's a fraction of the cost of a Cervelo frame and Cervelo's frame is only really marginally better. Leader has received so many good reviews of their 735TT that for the money...why would I go anywhere else? I'm already quite pleased with my road frame. My goal next year is to compete in local TTs and do the bike portion of people's triathlons if the opportunity presents itself next year.

Here's a pic of Leader's 735TT frame and new saddle.
