At about 11:40 this morning there was a magnitude 5.4 earthquake and 7 miles beneath the surface. The epicenter was located in Chino, roughly 10 miles from both my home and work. Originally it was a 5.8, but they obviously downgraded it. Needless to say, it was more than just the typical loud bang and single jolt that is usually felt (what you would expect if a truck slammed into the side of a building).
I found a couple video clips that represent what the quake felt like today. The videos are a bit more severe due to display overloading and hanging bikes but it's a fair example. The best I can describe it is as if you were on a small boat in the ocean being rocked back and forth with a slight tremble.
Both videos are from the San Dimas Incycle Bicycle Shop security cameras.
Today I wanted to go out and ride but after putting in 47 miles yesterday after work I figured I might as well get the food shopping I needed out of the way and get my hair cut. Tomorrow I will ride 40 and Thursday will be 47.
