Fueled properly today!

Today was an awesome day. I received my diploma and honor cord for graduating with my Associates degree Summa Cum Laude. I didn't attend the graduation and I'm not sure what to really do with the honor cord. I guess I shouldn't do anything with it since it's only my AAS. If I can manage the same accomplishment for my BS then perhaps it's something to have framed with the diploma.

The funny thing is, I meet so many people that think attending an online University is so much easier. It's actually quite the contrary. There is a tremendous amount of writing involved to make up for the lack of discussion in a traditional classroom. It also takes longer to write and formulate thoughts and ideas this way than it does with in-person interaction. Attending school online is also completely dependent on the student's internal motivation. It's easy to say screw it and not do an assignment in leiu of something more fun. For me, being employed full-time, a brick and mortar university is just too draining at the end of a work day. I thoroughly enjoy sitting comfortably in my own home pluggin away at reading assignments, homework and discussions.

This afternoon I went out for another longer ride. The ride totalled 40.9 miles. I knew what I normally would bring for lunch wouldn't prepare me enough for the ride. Since I had nothing to put together without cooking something specific, I chose to go to Subway for lunch. That did the trick for me and I rode well today. The two day total for riding this week adds up to around 91 miles. I have to ride 60 on Saturday and that'll conclude a nice three day total with one day break in between each.
