Saturday SART ride...

I'm watching my 49ers lose again...horribly within the last 5 minutes or so of the first half. So I'll blog about Saturday rather than watch the game.

The SART ride wasn't bad. It's a ride that's uneventful except for the idiot riders that don't know what "On your left" means and whatnot. The first 10 miles up to Green River from Kenos and on the way back was a struggle. My rear hub came apart on the Bontrager wheel earlier this week when I was removing the cassette for cleaning and I put it all back together. The ride felt like I was going through sludge. It was exhausting and I though maybe I was just really tight or something. I couldn't move faster than 17 mph if I wanted to. Then, the bike started vibrating increasing in frequency. I thought it was the hub going bad and I was just going to cut the 60 miles short at 20 when I got back to the car. Instead, I checked the bike over after 10 miles since it was evident I wasn't tight and something was amiss with the bike. The rear caliper was resting on the rim so the pad was dragging. No wonder! ...Adjusted the caliper and it was nice riding again. It took me about 15 minutes to catch Mike at this point and a leg burning 25-27 mph pace. That's a pace I really reserve for my TTing or intentional training. I recovered behind Mike for a few miles and decided to take off ahead.

At that point I was feeling fresh again and it was riding as usual. Picked up 2 guys on my wheel on the way down and on the way back up picked up 3 riders. Let both groups most of the way for where they were riding to and went about my own business.

I now need to tend to the TT bike and get the shifting readjusted for the disc wheel for next Sunday's triathlon out at Bonelli.
