I'm not one that really enjoys opening the door on Halloween. I'm just not that into kids and their costumes. Now that I have Brynne and a lot of course work that requires completion I certainly spent less time than average on the issue. I did however choose not to spoil the kids' fun and filled up a giant bowl and put it on the porch with a note wishing them well and to take what they wanted. This allowed me to "feel good" about not depriving the kids of their holiday joy this season.
I was able to get a alright amount of programming finished and did some of the homework for my humanities class. About 6:15 last night there was a girl that walked up to the front porch, took a little bit of candy and as she turned down the entrance to leave yelled out, "Thank you!". It was really nice to have a kid say that unprompted as far as I could tell or hear regardless if anyone was able to hear or not. It shows there are still decent parents in this world.
About half the bowl was still full of candy when I turned the porch light out which means I have so much crap left. Oh well, guess I'll figure out how to consume in moderation until Easter or something! =)
This weekend we're supposed to have scattered showers. They actually rolled through starting Friday morning. I hope it doesn't interfere with my race Sunday morning. Although it looks like it might. It's already going to be quite chilly with temps in the 50s when the first rider is off. I don't want to have to dress in stuff increasing my aerodynamic drag for the TT. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

I finally got around to draping the big window in my room the way I wanted. Previously all I had up was a sheer panel curtain. It was fine since I have interior shutters on the window but I never felt I had much privacy either way. While I was out at target yesterday I found some nice panel curtains that go over the sheer ones that I liked a lot. They go nicely with my bedspread (which you never get to see since it's covered with a blanket so the dog doesn't mess it up). Now I need to switch the pictures on the wall around to even out the space. It's a shame I never got those sheer curtains longer awhile back. I think they look a little silly short.
