First 10k run

Today I went out and ran the longest distance I've ever run...a 10k+. Ing and I ran (at my desire) the inside loop at Bonelli. The only difference in the route I made was that I ran the path through the park and onto the Raging Waters road that leads across the dam instead of running up the guard shack hill. I was pleased to find my lap times pretty consistant. I set my Polar watch to auto lap at 1 mile intervals. The total distance covered was 7.4 miles with an average pace of 9:31/mile. The lap times came out to be 9:30, 9:27, 9:38, 9:08, 9:23, 9:26, and 9:29 in that order.

I feel pretty good leg wise tonight although I am tired. Ing said I'll likely feel fatigued tomorrow. It's nice to know I can cover that distance and have consistant lap times. I didn't expect them to be that ok though. I figured I'd average over 10 min/mile.

I was thinking about making Saturday's a ride/run day. Ride 2 laps and run a few miles. Maybe on a more regular basis start getting on day a week in with a 10k run and lower distance runs during the week along with my riding. It seems that when I'm on the treadmill at the gym my usual run is about 1.7 miles for a pre-weights warmup and when I run after work the distance is usually around 3.5 - 4.5 miles so far. Obviously I haven't lost the military running discipline that was force fed to me back when.
