Mike and I went out to go see the new Star Trek movie. We went to see it in IMAX and after 10 minutes the IMAX player had a meltdown and they gave everyone comp. IMAX tickets, free refills and tried to kick us back to one of the small screens in the far reaches of the theater. We didn't want to see it on a small screen and thought we would wait around for one of the larger screens up front and hop in. We originally thought the movie would start at this one screen at 8:30 so no biggy...we'll just wait an hour. An hour goes by and the movie in that room still didn't end. It turned out the new showing started at 9:30. Ok...well...we wait this long, might as well wait one more hour. 9:30 and finally we get to see the film. It wasn't a bad flick. I'm not a trek fan by any means but I enjoyed it.
Nearly 5 hours at the movies and now it's just about midnight. We walk back to the car and Mike asks, "did you take your bike rack off your car?" Son of a b-!!! Someone pried my yakima roof rack right off the car. So much for having it LOCKED down tight when a screw driver and some muscle is all it takes. So my roof rack with 3 bike mounts, locking cores, locking skewers, and fairing are all gone. All I'm left with out of the deal is a large dent in my roof from some ape trying to get some leverage to pry one of the pillars off.
I guess it could have been worse...my car could have been stolen, or all the "merchandise" I had in the back seat and stuff could have been taken. I'm convinced the only thing that saved my belongings is my tinting.
