Apparently the Station Fire as it's been named grew over night. The fire on the west side of Angeles Crest in Acton joined the fire east of it which originated in La Canada/Flintridge. This morning it was reported to have consumed 85,000 acres and by 5 this evening it had burned an additional 20,000 acres. The other side of the La Canada/Flintridge fire was pushing east above Pasadena where Lorelei lives and last time I saw the smoke it looked to have traveled about 15 miles east reaching the foothills of San Dimas. I'm just thankful we're not having Santa Ana winds. The Station Fire apparently is now the most devistating fire ever with not influence from the wind. Santa Ana winds would clearly push this fire and double it's carnage instantly and tragically. Thank goodness for small favors.
Unfortunately they've only been able to contain the Station Fire by 5% as of this evening. Expected control of the fire isn't expected for another 8 days roughly according to an article I read on Reuters earlier this evening.
Eventually late this morning the smoke smell in Rancho Cucamonga dissipated. I planned yesterday to run today and decided not to this morning. By early afternoon I changed my mind when I couldn't smell the smoke anymore. So I ran 3 miles. I did it at an alright pace. About 8:15/mile. I was still feeling a bit fatigued from yesterday but as the miles went by my runtime got better.
